The use of azo dyes in excipients will affect the export of garments exported to Europe.

At the end of April, when the Jiangyin Inspection and Quarantine Bureau conducted a sample test on the accessories that a company was about to produce for export, it found that its sewing thread used the banned azo dye in the EU. The company changed the sewing thread of the garment in time to avoid unqualified clothing. Returned after export.

An azo dye is a dye that can decompose a variety of carcinogenic aromatic amine compounds, and puts on clothes dyed with this dye. It has a great impact on human health. The European Union banned azo dyes Directive 2002/61/EC, 2004/21/EC stipulates that the use of dyes that decompose 22 aromatic amines in textiles and leather is prohibited, and the banned aromatic amines (including 4-aminoazobenzene) are detected. Must not exceed 30mg/kg.

In order to prevent unnecessary quality problems in the production of good export garments, Jiangyin Inspection and Quarantine Bureau passed the inspection and found that the content of 4-aminoazobenzene in the sewing thread of these garments was 151mg/kg, which greatly exceeded the EU directive. It is stipulated that Jiangyin Inspection and Quarantine Bureau promptly informs enterprises to take effective measures to eliminate unnecessary losses caused by quality hazards.

China's export-oriented clothing companies are dotted around, exporting clothing, and the destination is the EU's proportion. At present, the majority of garment export enterprises are generally concerned about the ban of azo dyes on fabrics, but the problem of using azo dyes for excipients is not enough. From the past few years, I have seen the situation of using garment accessories containing azo dyes to process export garments. Due to the lack of strictness in the purchase, some "unobtrusive" accessories, such as sewing threads and laces, which contain banned azo dyes, flow into the production line, causing the entire product to fail. Last year, a group of casual clothes exported to Germany by a company was found to contain banned azo dyes due to the sewing thread embroidery pattern, and not only suffered a return, but also claimed more than 400,000 yuan. It is understood that in recent years, incidents of returning, claiming or destroying by the EU countries due to the ban on azo dyes in textiles have occurred, many of which are due to the fact that the clothing accessories do not meet the requirements.

To this end, the inspection and quarantine department reminds foreign trade units and export garment manufacturers that for garments exported to the EU, not only fabrics must be guaranteed to contain banned azo dyes, but also the control of banned azo dyes should be strengthened. The proportion of the medium is small and neglected; in addition, the inspection of clothing surface accessories should contact the inspection and quarantine department in advance, and strive to deal with quality hazards early in a limited production time.
